India PPP Capacity Building Trust

India PPP Capacity Building Trust (I-CAP Trust) is setup by IDFC Ltd under the Indian Trusts Act, 1882 and registered on 10th October 2007 under the Registration Act, 1908 as Reg. No.: 400 (2008-09). The Initial Trustees were Mr. Anil Baijal, IAS (retd) and Mr. Cherian Thomas. It was subsequently transferred to IDFC Foundation in the year 2009. With the restructuring of IDFC Group, the trusteeship of I-CAP was passed on to Infrastructure Development Corporation (Karnataka) Limited (iDeCK) since 1st April 2017. iDeCK is a joint venture company established in the year 2000 by IDFC Ltd., HDFC Ltd., and Government of Karnataka.  The mandate of iDeCK is to further catalyse well-planned, future-ready infrastructure projects. Over the last 19 years, iDeCK has accumulated a rich and diverse experience in the development of over 650 infrastructure projects in different states across the country and abroad. Since the inception of ICAP Trust in 2007, it has been utilising the expert resources of iDeCK in the conduct of its capacity building and research activities.

With the primary objective to spearhead capacity building and knowledge sharing initiatives for government agencies in planning, designing, tendering and implementation of infrastructure projects in the country and abroad, ICAP Trust serves as a dedicated training delivery, pedagogy development and knowledge repository platform in the infrastructure sector and promotes national and international institutional networking in this context. Over 7000 Government functionaries have been trained by I-CAP since 2007, including a variety of stakeholders such as elected representatives, senior civil servants, municipal officials & engineers, private developers and others concerned with the infrastructure sector. The domain expertise of I-CAP is spread across a wide-range of infrastructure sectors such as urban, transportation, energy, tourism and industrial infrastructure.

The diverse experience across the IDFC umbrella, provides I-CAP an enriched curriculum content and pedagogy base for designing and delivering niche programmes on project structuring, project development, implementation and management in the infrastructure sector. Presently, I-CAP has over 30 experts from different fields empanelled as Resource Persons. In addition, I-CAP Trust has also entered into collaborative agreements with several Training and Academic Institutions all over the country and abroad.

Objective:

The objective of the Trust is to provide all services for capacity building and training, development of infrastructure and promotion of private participation in infrastructure and work across all sectors related to infrastructure including physical, social, rural and allied services.

Mandate:

  • Provide all services related to capacity building and training activities to the stakeholders concerned in the infrastructure sector;
  • Undertake research activities for the improvement of public service provision to the users;
  • Development of infrastructure projects by encouraging private sector participation;
  • Work across all sectors of infrastructure including physical, core, social, rural and allied services and activities.
