India PPP Capacity Building (I-CAP) Trust
The India PPP Capacity Building Trust (I-CAP Trust) was setup by IDFC Ltd. under the Indian Trusts Act, 1882 and was registered on 10th October 2007 under the Registration Act, 1908 as Reg. No. 400 (2008-09). The initial Trustees of the trust were Mr. Anil Baijal, IAS (retd.) and Mr. Cherian Thomas.
The trust was subsequently transferred to the IDFC Foundation in the year 2009. With the restructuring of the IDFC Group, the trusteeship of I-CAP was passed on to the Infrastructure Development Corporation (Karnataka) Limited (iDeCK) on 1st April 2017. Since the inception of the I-CAP Trust in 2007, it has been utilizing the expert resources of iDeCK in the conduct of its capacity building and research activities.
With the primary objective to spearhead capacity building and knowledge sharing initiatives for government agencies in the planning, designing, tendering and implementation of infrastructure projects in India and abroad, the the I-CAP Trust serves as a dedicated training delivery, pedagogy development and knowledge repository platform in the infrastructure sector, and promotes national and international institutional networking in this context.
Over 7000 Government functionaries have been trained by I-CAP since 2007, including a variety of stakeholders such as elected representatives; senior civil servants; municipal officials & engineers; private developers etc. The domain expertise of I-CAP is spread across a wide-range of infrastructure sectors such as urban infrastructure, transportation, energy, sustainable mobility, tourism and industrial infrastructure.
The diverse experience across the IDFC umbrella, provides I-CAP an enriched curriculum content and pedagogy base for designing and delivering niche programmes on project structuring, project development, implementation and management in the infrastructure sector. In addition, I-CAP Trust has also entered into collaborative agreements with several training and academic institutions across India and abroad.
Objectives and Mandate of the I-CAP Trust
- Provide all services related to capacity building and training activities to the stakeholders concerned in the infrastructure sector;
- Undertake research activities for the improvement of public service provision to the users;
- Development of infrastructure projects by encouraging private sector participation;
- Work across all sectors of infrastructure including physical, core, social, rural and allied services and activities.
